Case Study: How a Meat Processing Company Secured $150,000 in Government Grants for Capital Equipment Purchase

For businesses in the meat processing industry, investing in advanced technology is key to improving product quality and operational efficiency. However, securing funding for such investments can be a challenge. In this case study, we explore how Ayming Canada helped a meat processing company obtain government grants to fund the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment that optimized their production processes.

Context and Challenge

Sector: Meat Processing
Funding Category: Capital Purchase

The client, a meat processing company, aimed to invest in a state-of-the-art waterjet cutting system to enhance production efficiency and improve the quality of their meat cuts. This significant investment required external funding, but navigating the complexities of government grant programs presented a challenge. The client needed expert guidance to secure the necessary funds and ensure their project aligned with the grant program’s requirements.

Ayming’s Approach

Ayming Canada worked with the client to evaluate their expenditures and identify grant programs that aligned with their project goals. Once we identified the right funding opportunities, we ensured the client was fully informed about the crucial timing parameters required. This included application deadlines and program requirements.

One of the key steps involved was helping the client register in the Ontario government’s transfer payment system. This is a prerequisite for the grant application process. We provided guidance throughout the registration and assisted with all necessary documentation. This ensured everything was in place for a successful submission.

With the grant application period being especially tight, running from December 13th to December 22nd, during the busy holiday season, our team worked diligently to meet the deadlines.

Overcoming Timing Challenges

This particular funding program had strict timing requirements, with two major deadlines within 3 months:

  1. All equipment needed to be fully paid for and delivered by March 1st
  2. The entire project had to be completed by May 31st

Despite these tight timelines, Ayming worked closely with the client to ensure all requirements were met. This included everything from payments to equipment delivery and project completion.

The Results: Meat Processing Company

Thanks to Ayming’s expertise and efficient handling of the application process, the client was awarded $150,000 in non-repayable grant funding. The grant funding covered 60% of the total project cost. Additionally, the funding enabled the company to invest in the waterjet cutting system, optimizing their production processes and significantly improving the quality of their meat cuts.
