Application Deadline
- Ongoing; Application review takes an average of 3 months
Funding Amount
- Maximum of $10 million for exceptional, large-scale projects
Timeline
- Single year projects that take place between April 1 – March 31 of every year. Potential for 12+ months for larger projects

Eligibility Criteria
- Incorporated, profit-oriented small or medium-sized business in Canada
- 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees
Program Objectives
- the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) supports R&D activities to pursue growth and profit by developing and commercializing innovative, technology-driven new or improved products, services, or processes in Canada
Eligible Expenses
- 80% of employee salaries, for those working directly on the project
- 50% of travel costs, including economy fare and per diem of up to $400 per day, including accommodations
- 50% of eligible contractor costs, must provide a contractor proposal
Ineligible Expenses
- Overhead expenditures; salaries outside of the project scope; capital costs; equipment; etc.
