The Sustainable Growth and Adoption Program (SGAP) supports food and agri-tech businesses in Southern Ontario.

Funding Alert: Sustainable Growth and Adoption Program (SGAP)

The Sustainable Growth and Adoption Program (SGAP) supports food and agri-tech businesses in Southern Ontario to adopt and integrate new clean technologies, practices and process enhancements. The program’s focus is the decarbonization of operations through the adoption of sustainable solutions

Application Deadline: September 11, 2024 – October 30, 2024 @ 11:59pm ET

Funding Type: Grant (non-repayable contribution)

Funding Amount

$40,000 to $100,000 maximum. Applicants must source 60 percent matching funds (up to $150k).


Eligible Applicants

  • Food and Agri-tech businesses with minimum of $200,000 annual revenue
  • Incorporated in Canada and located in Southern Ontario.
  • Must adopt proven clean technologies from an eligible Sustainability Project Partner (SPP) OR engage with them for sustainability enhancement projects.

SPP must be a for-profit private enterprise or a not-for-profit corporation able to:

  1. Offer a proven clean technology or consultation service that reduces the applicant’s carbon footprint and accelerates their transition to net zero; and
  2. Provide a Statement of Work (SOW)

Funding Objectives: Sustainable Growth and Adoption Program (SGAP)

  • De-risk the adoption of clean technologies and integration of sustainable practices.
  • Accelerate sustainable business growth, expansion, and modernization.
  • Reduce carbon emissions and support the transition to a green economy.
  • Create and maintain jobs.

Eligible Projects and Costs

  • The integration of proven clean technologies into operations; and/or
  • The implementation of sustainability enhancement activities to assess possible modifications to current operations. (Equipment Acquisition, Advisory Services, Operational Assessments, Employee Labour, Other Direct Project Costs)

Application Process

One-phase intake process.

  • Submit Completed Application through the Application Portal (opens Sep 11/24)
  • Ensure SPP provides a Statement of Work (SOW)
  • NOTIFICATION DATE: December 2024
